The town is a combination of three [[Subdivision (land)|subdivision]]s of which its name reflects: Carpenters Addition, Millerdale I, and Millerdale II. There are no stores in Carpendale and there is only one road in and out of the town.

The [[population density]] was {{convert|745.8|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 421 housing units at an average density of {{convert|321.4|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the town was 98.9% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.5% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.1% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.3% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.2% from two or more races.

There were 402 households, of which 24.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.0% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 28.9% were non-families. 23.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.21% of the population.
