==History==
The settlement was founded by Patrick C. Byrnes, who immigrated from Ireland in 1849.  His family established a mill on their {{convert|800|acre|ha|adj=on}} property. The racial makeup of the city was 97.4% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.3% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.5% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.3% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.5% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.0% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.4% of the population.

The racial makeup of the city was 97.56% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.17% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.63% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.08% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.51% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.05% from two or more races. ==Municipal Court==

In Fiscal Year 2013, the Byrnes Mill Municipal Court collected $443,000 in fines on 3,888 cases. With a population of 2,115, this means that Byrnes Mill had 1.8 cases per each person living in the city and collected $205.77 per person in fines.  This is the highest amount per person of any municipality in Jefferson County and more than double the amount per person of the next highest municipality, [[Hillsboro, Missouri|Hillsboro]].
