==History==
Britton was founded in 1884 as a stop on the [[Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad]]. In 1885, the town was designated county seat of the newly formed Marshall County. The racial makeup of the city was 97.8% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.5% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.7% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.1% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.9% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.1% of the population.
