As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2000, there were 911 people, 333 households, and 252 families residing in the township.  The population density was {{convert|25.2|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  There were 376 housing units at an average density of {{convert|10.4|/sqmi|/km2|sp=us|adj=off}}.  The racial makeup of the township was 98.13% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.44% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.22% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.21% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.32% of the population.

There were 333 households, out of which 35.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.3% were non-families. 20.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.  The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.09.

In the township the population was spread out, with 27.7% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 years of age or older.  The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.8 males.  For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.7 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $32,604, and the median income for a family was $37,857. Males had a median income of $27,083 versus $19,485 for females. About 8.9% of families and 11.0% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 13.8% of those under age 18 and 4.4% of those age 65 or over.
