It surrounds the city of [[Tomahawk, Wisconsin|Tomahawk]], a separate municipality. The [[U.S. Route 51]] freeway runs along the eastern side of the town, leading south {{convert|21|mi}} to [[Merrill, Wisconsin|Merrill]], the Lincoln [[county seat]], and north {{convert|85|mi}} to [[Hurley, Wisconsin|Hurley]].
