It is part of the Alexandria, Louisiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 888 at the 2020 census. The community is nearly 70 percent African American. ==History== Originally called Cotile Landing, the name was changed to Boyce in 1880, when the Texas and Pacific Railroad made Boyce its terminal point. The town was named for Judge Henry Boyce, who owned the land on which the town was located. Being of Irish descent, Boyce, and/or his son Henry Archinard Boyce, gave all the streets Irish names as he did his own cotton farmland, Ulster, which was immediately adjacent to the town along Bayou Jeunes des Gens (Jean de Jean). The post office was moved more than once but was returned to Boyce in 1883 and the Postal Service chose Boyce, even though there was a majority opposition, because the train depot already carried that name. Under charter of May 7, 1887, Boyce was organized and a council elected. == Geography == According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.6 sqmi, of which 0.5 sqmi is land and 0.1 sqmi (8.62%) is water. A number of small bayous, such as Bayou Jean de Jean and Bayou Helen, are located just outside the town. An island in the Red River North of the town was created with the straightening of the portion of the river next to the Town by the Army Corps of Engineers. The owners of the Island named it St. Alfred Island, after Alfred Boyce Wettermark, (1916-2010). ===Climate=== {{Weather box |location = Boyce 3 WNW, Louisiana (1991โ2020 normals, extremes 1976โpresent) |single line = Y |collapsed = Y |width = auto |Jan record high F = 81 |Feb record high F = 86 |Mar record high F = 87 |Apr record high F = 95 |May record high F = 102 |Jun record high F = 101 |Jul record high F = 104 |Aug record high F = 107 |Sep record high F = 106 |Oct record high F = 94 |Nov record high F = 86 |Dec record high F = 82 |year record high F = 107 |Jan high F = 56.2 |Feb high F = 60.0 |Mar high F = 67.3 |Apr high F = 74.3 |May high F = 81.2 |Jun high F = 86.6 |Jul high F = 88.9 |Aug high F = 89.0 |Sep high F = 84.5 |Oct high F = 76.0 |Nov high F = 65.4 |Dec high F = 57.8 |year high F = 73.9 |Jan mean F = 47.5 |Feb mean F = 50.9 |Mar mean F = 57.9 |Apr mean F = 65.0 |May mean F = 72.5 |Jun mean F = 78.4 |Jul mean F = 80.6 |Aug mean F = 80.6 |Sep mean F = 75.8 |Oct mean F = 66.1 |Nov mean F = 55.8 |Dec mean F = 49.2 |year mean F = 65.0 |Jan low F = 38.7 |Feb low F = 41.9 |Mar low F = 48.5 |Apr low F = 55.6 |May low F = 63.7 |Jun low F = 70.2 |Jul low F = 72.4 |Aug low F = 72.1 |Sep low F = 67.0 |Oct low F = 56.3 |Nov low F = 46.2 |Dec low F = 40.6 |year low F = 56.1 |Jan record low F = 9 |Feb record low F = 7 |Mar record low F = 23 |Apr record low F = 31 |May record low F = 42 |Jun record low F = 55 |Jul record low F = 59 |Aug record low F = 56 |Sep record low F = 43 |Oct record low F = 30 |Nov record low F = 20 |Dec record low F = 7 |year record low F = 7 |precipitation colour = green |Jan precipitation inch = 5.78 |Feb precipitation inch = 5.04 |Mar precipitation inch = 5.79 |Apr precipitation inch = 5.61 |May precipitation inch = 4.37 |Jun precipitation inch = 5.19 |Jul precipitation inch = 4.85 |Aug precipitation inch = 3.35 |Sep precipitation inch = 4.25 |Oct precipitation inch = 5.12 |Nov precipitation inch = 5.39 |Dec precipitation inch = 6.03 |year precipitation inch = 60.77 |unit precipitation days = 0.01 in |Jan precipitation days = 10.3 |Feb precipitation days = 10.0 |Mar precipitation days = 9.1 |Apr precipitation days = 8.1 |May precipitation days = 8.6 |Jun precipitation days = 10.3 |Jul precipitation days = 10.0 |Aug precipitation days = 8.3 |Sep precipitation days = 7.2 |Oct precipitation days = 6.8 |Nov precipitation days = 8.7 |Dec precipitation days = 11.2 |year precipitation days = 108.6 |unit snow days = 0.1 in |Jan snow days = 0.1 |Feb snow days = 0.0 |Mar snow days = 0.0 |Apr snow days = 0.0 |May snow days = 0.0 |Jun snow days = 0.0 |Jul snow days = 0.0 |Aug snow days = 0.0 |Sep snow days = 0.0 |Oct snow days = 0.0 |Nov snow days = 0.0 |Dec snow days = 0.0 |year snow days = 0.1 |source 1 = NOAA<ref name= NOAA > {{cite web | url = https://www.weather.gov/wrh/climate?wfo=lch | title = NowData -
