Botines is located {{convert|5|mi|km}} north of [[Laredo, Texas|Laredo]]. The town's name originates from the Spanish term ''botín'', which means buskin, boot, or legging.

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]] in 2000, the CDP had a total area of 8.6&nbsp;square miles (22.2&nbsp;km<sup>2</sup>), all land. As of the [[census]]<ref name="GR2" /> of 2010, there were 117 people, 40 households, and 35 families residing in the CDP. The [[population density]] was 15.4 people per square mile (5.9/km<sup>2</sup>). There were 53 housing units at an average density of 6.2/sq&nbsp;mi (2.4/km<sup>2</sup>). The racial makeup of the CDP was 85.61% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 9.09% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 5.30% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] people of any race were 81.82% of the population.

There were 40 households, out of which 40.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 77.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 7.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 12.5% were non-families. 10.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and none had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.30 and the average family size was 3.57.

In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 34.8% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 29.5% from 45 to 64, and 3.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 30 years. For every 100 females, there were 103.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.8 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $24,643, and the median income for a family was $48,500. Males had a median income of $16,875 versus $0 for females.
