On June 26, 1849, a cholera outbreak began, with the first death occurring the following day. The racial makeup of the town was 97.8% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.7% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], and 1.4% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]].

There were 60 households, of which 30.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 31.7% were non-families. 25.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
