==Geography==
Berkshire is located in northeastern Franklin County. Its northern boundary is the [[Canada–United States border]].

The [[population density]] was 32.9 people per square mile (12.7/km<sup>2</sup>). There were 550 housing units at an average density of 13.0 per square mile (5.0/km<sup>2</sup>). The racial makeup of the town was 97.55% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.58% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.50% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], and 1.37% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.50% of the population.

There were 495 households, out of which 39.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.0% were non-families. 17.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size was 3.15.

In the town, the population was spread out, with 28.4% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who were 65 years of age or older.
