The village is located in [[Baraga Township, Michigan|Baraga Township]] on the Keweenaw Bay on [[Lake Superior]] at the junction of [[U.S. Route 41 in Michigan|US 41]] and [[M-38 (Michigan highway)|M-38]]. Baraga began with the establishment of the Holy Name Mission at this site by Rev. The racial makeup of the village was 68.79% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.16% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 23.97% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.62% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.31% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 6.15% from two or more races.
