== History ==
The land for the village originally belonged to Mary Bagley when in 1884 the [[Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad]] built a depot. The village suffered damage on July 18, 2007, when a large thunderstorm dumped {{convert|7|in|mm}} of rain on the area. The storm was part of a "mesoscale convective systems", bringing thunderstorms with huge amounts of rain and lightning.<ref>Stu Ostro. The racial makeup of the village was 97.9% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.3% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 1.1% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], and 0.8% from two or more races. The racial makeup of the village was 96.76% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.88% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.29% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.59% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.47% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 1.47% of the population.
