Athalia is a part of the [[Huntington, West Virginia|Huntington]]-[[Ashland, Kentucky|Ashland]], [[West Virginia|WV]]-[[Kentucky|KY]]-[[Ohio|OH]], [[Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH Metropolitan Statistical Area|Metropolitan Statistical Area]] (MSA).

The racial makeup of the village was 97.9% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.8% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.8% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.3% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.3% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 2.1% of the population.

[[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.30% of the population.
