==History==
Arcadia was [[plat]]ted in 1885 when it was certain that the railroad would soon be extended to that point. The [[population density]] was {{convert|545.6|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 176 housing units at an average density of {{convert|308.8|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 98.7% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.3% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.3% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.6% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 2.9% of the population.

There were 138 households, of which 29.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.5% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 5.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 34.1% were non-families. 31.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 21.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.78.

The median age in the village was 46.7 years. 25.1% of residents were under the age of 18; 4.2% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 17.4% were from 25 to 44; 26.5% were from 45 to 64; and 27% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 48.6% male and 51.4% female.

The racial makeup of the village was 98.89% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.56% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.28% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.28% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.84% of the population.

There were 155 households, out of which 27.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.8% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 2.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.1% were non-families. 35.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 24.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 3.04.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 27.9% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 23.1% from 25 to 44, 17.0% from 45 to 64, and 27.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 87.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.0 males.

As of 2000 the median income for a household in the village was $24,464, and the median income for a family was $33,750. Males had a median income of $24,107 versus $20,500 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the village was $15,015. About 5.1% of families and 9.4% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 11.0% of those under age 18 and 8.3% of those age 65 or over.
