The [[population density]] was {{convert|1083.2|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 1,450 housing units at an average density of {{convert|486.6|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the city was 96.3% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.5% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.2% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.3% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 1.5% from [[Race (U.S. Census)|other races]], and 1.2% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 3.1% of the population.

The racial makeup of the city was 97.50% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.37% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.19% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.26% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.30% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.38% from two or more races. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 3.03.

27.3% of the population were under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 17.9% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females, there were 88.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.0 males.

Annandale uses a city council consisting of four councilmembers and the city mayor.
