There were 8,694 households, of which 33.80% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.2% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 27.1% had a female householder with no husband present. 32.79% of all households were made up of individuals without children, and 12.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.03. Age distribution was 23.5% under the age of 18, 11.8% from 15 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 28.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41.4 years and the population is estimated to be 51% Female and 49% Male. The [[median household income]] was $55,334, and the median family income was $67,681.
