==Geography==
Alexandria is located in the northwest corner of DeKalb County, bordered to the north by [[Smith County, Tennessee|Smith County]] and at its western tip by [[Wilson County, Tennessee|Wilson County]]. [[U.S. Route 70]] (Nashville Highway) passes through the southwest side of the town, leading northwest {{convert|18|mi}} to [[Lebanon, Tennessee|Lebanon]] and southeast {{convert|17|mi}} to [[Smithville, Tennessee|Smithville]], the DeKalb County seat. [[Tennessee State Route 53]] passes just east of the town, leading north {{convert|7|mi|0}} to [[Interstate 40]] at New Middleton.

The racial makeup of the town was 90.17% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 7.74% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.25% [[Native American (U.S. Census)|Native American]], 0.12% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], 0.49% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.23% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.25% of the population.

The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.97.
