==History==

The [[population density]] was {{convert|1405.6|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 359 housing units at an average density of {{convert|664.8|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 97.9% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 0.3% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.1% [[Race (U.S. Census)|Pacific Islander]], and 1.7% from two or more races. [[Hispanic (U.S. Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Latino (U.S. Census)|Latino]] of any race were 0.4% of the population.

There were 319 households, of which 29.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.7% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 31.0% were non-families. 27.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The racial makeup of the village was 98.28% [[White (U.S. Census)|White]], 1.23% [[African American (U.S. Census)|African American]], 0.12% [[Asian (U.S. Census)|Asian]], and 0.37% from two or more races.

There were 348 households, out of which 25.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.9% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.9% were non-families. 27.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.85.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 19.4% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 26.6% from 45 to 64, and 20.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 91.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.6 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $25,341, and the median income for a family was $30,156. Males had a median income of $30,313 versus $17,679 for females. The [[per capita income]] for the village was $14,941. About 16.9% of families and 20.6% of the population were below the [[poverty line]], including 30.2% of those under age 18 and 14.4% of those age 65 or over.

Public education in the village of Adena is provided by the [[Buckeye Local School District (Jefferson County)|Buckeye Local School District]].
