The population density was {{convert|1,712.7|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|adj=off}}. There were 162,277 housing units at an average density of {{convert|653.6|/mi2|/km2|disp=preunit|units&nbsp;|units|}}.

There were 154,455 households, out of which 38.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.7% were [[Marriage|married couples]] living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.2% were non-families. 20.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.14.

The age distribution was 27.5% under the age of 18, 10.0% from 18 to 24, 34.3% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females, there were 98.0 males. For every 100 females aged 18 and over, there were 95.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $48,705, and the median income for a family was $53,242.
