In a bid to improve pedestrian accessibility in congested areas, the Prime Minister of Qatar, [[Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani (prime minister)|Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani]], announced the inauguration of the Pedestrian Crossings Master Plan in 2018.
