The ground floor of the building is occupied largely by a single retail unit, originally a [[Fine Fare]]<ref name="surreycomet1"/> supermarket which traded until the early 1980s, and is currently a [[Marks and Spencer]] supermarket β and smaller retail units along the Broadway, the remainder taken up with access to the other floors. The remaining floors of the building were originally occupied by commercial and government offices, but the north wing has recently{{when|date=December 2024}} re-opened as a [[Travelodge]] hotel.
