On 11 August 2021, the [[Criterion Collection]] announced their first 4K Ultra HD releases, a six-film slate, will include ''The Piano''. Criterion indicated each title would be available in a 4K UHD+Blu-ray combo pack, including a 4K UHD disc of the feature film as well as the film and special features on the companion Blu-ray.
