Downtown [[Houston]] is {{convert|38|mi}} to the east. According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], Simonton has a total area of {{convert|5.2|km2|order=flip}}, of which {{convert|0.01|sqkm|order=flip|3}}, or 0.24%, is water.<ref name="Census 2010" /> Almost all of the City is located within the [[Federal Emergency Management Agency]] (FEMA) '''100-year floodplain of the Brazos River'''.
