The serious use of the Scots language for news, encyclopaediae, documentaries, etc., remains rare. It is reportedly reserved for niches{{Clarify|date=September 2024}} where it is deemed acceptable, e.g. comedy, [[Burns supper|Burns Night]] or traditions' representations.
