[[Terry Pratchett]]'s 1993 short murder mystery story "[[Theatre of Cruelty (Discworld)|Theatre of Cruelty]]" was inspired by Punch and Judy. It is set in his [[Discworld]] fantasy universe, and a Punch and Judy show is also referenced briefly in the 2003 Discworld novel ''[[Monstrous Regiment (novel)|Monstrous Regiment]]''. The 2011 novel ''[[Rivers of London (novel)|Rivers of London]]'' (''Midnight Riot'' in the US) by [[Ben Aaronovitch]] is embedded in the story of Punch and Judy to tell a story of a ghostly serial killer.
