==Honours== In September 1964 Lunt and Fontanne were presented with the [[Presidential Medal of Freedom]] by President [[Lyndon Johnson]] at a [[White House]] ceremony.{{refn|Fellow honorands at the ceremony included [[T. Eliot]], [[Walt Disney]], [[John Steinbeck]] and [[Helen Keller]].<ref name=p295>Peters, p. 295</ref>|group=n}} Like Lunt, Fontanne was a member of the [[American Theater Hall of Fame]].<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.theaterhalloffame.org/members.html#F|title=Theater Hall of Fame members}}</ref> She received a [[Kennedy Center|Kennedy Center Honor for the Performing Arts]] in 1980.{{refn|Also honoured at that ceremony were [[Leonard Bernstein]], [[Agnes de Mille]], [[Leontyne Price]] and [[James Cagney]].<ref>Peters, p. 321</ref>|group=n}} She received no official British honour, which was a matter of mild regret as she would have liked to be Dame Lynn Fontanne: "They thought I was American.
