Beginning in the summer of 2005, the Philharmonic created the new position of ''Principal Guest Conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl''. [[Leonard Slatkin]] was initially given a two-year contract, and in 2007 he was given a one-year extension. In March 2008, [[Bramwell Tovey]] was named to the post for an initial two-year contract beginning Summer of 2008; he subsequently received a one-year extension.
