Former Evanston resident and structural engineer Wayman Wing built a [[Chinese pavilion]], and the City of Evanston constructed a garden with a pond and walking path next to the pavilion.<ref name=":0" /> The [[Bear River State Park]] is located adjacent to Interstate 80 on the eastern outskirts of Evanston. The park offers wildlife viewing, a visitors center, picnic grounds, and hiking trails. A trail along the river connects to the Bear River Greenway in Evanston.
