Deptford Township operates under the [[Faulkner Act]], formally known as the Optional Municipal Charter Law, under the Council-Manager form of municipal government. There are no term limits for council, mayor or deputy mayor, and elected officials can remain in those offices as long as they continue to be nominated by the council every two years and as long as they win their council elections every four years.
