Produced on an industrial scale, indigo is the blue of blue jeans. Blue dyes are organic compounds, both synthetic and natural.

For food, the triarylmethane dye [[Brilliant blue FCF]] is used for candies. The search continues for stable, natural blue dyes suitable for the food industry.<ref name=Ag/>

Various [[raspberry]]-flavoured foods are dyed blue.
