===An English estate and income for the Queen=== A council was appointed in 1593 by the [[Parliament of Scotland]] to look after her landed estates and income.<ref>[[Thomas Thomson (advocate)|Thomas Thomson]], ''Acts of the Parliaments of Scotland: 1593β1625'', vol. 4 (1816), pp. 24β27; {{Harvp|Calendar of State Papers Scotland vol. 11|pp=120, 697}}.</ref> Anne of Denmark's household expenses in Scotland were alleviated by [[English subsidy of James VI|money given to James VI by Elizabeth I]]. King James would pay the other costs of her household, stable, and food. The Venetian diplomat [[Giovanni Carlo Scaramelli|Scaramelli]] heard she had received a gift of valuable jewels from James, Nonsuch Palace, and a yearly income of 40,000 crowns.
