Although not an MP at the time, Widdecombe did voice support for the [[Sexual Offences Act 1967|partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in 1967]] in England and Wales.<ref name="BBC-1999" /> After that, Widdecombe consistently opposed further reforms while in Parliament.
