==Honours and memorials== [[File:Birmingham Conservatoire.jpg|thumb|right|alt=exterior of a modern concert hall|[[Adrian Boult Hall]], Birmingham]] Boult was created a [[Knight Bachelor]] in 1937<ref name=who/> and was created a [[Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour]] (CH) in 1969.<ref name=who/> He received the gold medal of the [[Royal Philharmonic Society]] in 1944<ref name=grove/> and the [[Harvard Glee Club]] medal (jointly with Vaughan Williams) in 1956.<ref name=grove/> He received honorary degrees and fellowships from 13 universities and conservatoires.<ref name=who/> In 1951 he was invited to be the first president of the [[Elgar Society]].<ref>''The Guardian'', 19 January 2002, p. 7</ref> In 1959 he was made president of the [[Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama|Royal Scottish Academy of Music]].<ref name=grove/> In the north choir aisle of Westminster Abbey is a small memorial stone to Boult which was unveiled on 8 April 1984.<ref name=abbey/> Boult's old school, Westminster, has a music centre named in his honour,<ref>[http://www.oldwestminster.org.uk/document.doc?id=144 "Bursar's Report"] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140914224347/http://www.oldwestminster.org.uk/document.doc?id=144 |date=14 September 2014 }}, Westminster School Elizabethan Newsletter, 2011/2012, p. 10</ref> and the [[Royal Birmingham Conservatoire]] included in its home building the [[Adrian Boult Hall]].
