British destroyer [[HMS Coventry (D118)|HMS ''Coventry'']] and British frigates [[HMS Ardent (F184)|HMS ''Ardent'']] and [[HMS Antelope (F170)|HMS ''Antelope'']] are all sunk by bombs from Argentine light attack aircraft.
**23 May – [[Battle of Seal Cove]] – A minor naval clash, it involves the attempt by two Royal Navy frigates to seize an [[Argentine Navy]] coaster. The coaster evaded capture by running aground.
**25 May – Sinking of SS ''Atlantic Conveyor'' – British cargo ship [[SS Atlantic Conveyor|SS ''Atlantic Conveyor'']] is sunk by two Argentine Exocet missiles fired from fighter jets.
**8 June – Attack on the RFA ''Sir Galahad'' and RFA ''Sir Tristam'' – British logistics ship [[RFA Sir Galahad (1966)|RFA ''Sir Galahad'']] is hit by three Argentine aerial bombs that destroyed the vessel. The hulk would later be scuttled via torpedoes by [[HMS Onyx (S21)|HMS ''Onyx'']] on 21 June. The same-class vessel [[RFA Sir Tristram|RFA ''Sir Tristam'']] was seriously damaged but eventually returned to service after undergoing major repairs. 
**11–12 June – [[Battle of Two Sisters]] – British destroyer [[HMS Glamorgan (D19)|HMS ''Glamorgan'']] is struck and damgaged by an Exocet missile fired from an Argentine land-base launcher while providing naval gunfire support to Royal Marines.

** 29 January – 2 February – The [[Battle of Bubiyan]] where Coalition warships and aircraft destroy the bulk of the Iraqi Navy during the [[Gulf War]].
** 25 May – [[Eritrean War of Independence|Battle of Assab]] – Eritrean People's Liberation Front sink seven Ethiopian warships in port. Ethiopia's fourteen remaining seaworthy warships get underway and flee Assab before the city's fall. It is the last combat action of the [[Ethiopian Navy]] before its dissolution due to Ethiopia becoming landlocked.
** 8 November – [[History of the Serbian River Flotilla#Yugoslav Wars|Action of Kopacki Rit]] – Yugoslav riverine patrol boat RML-308 was ambushed by Croatian forces on the [[Danube]] off [[Kopački Rit|Kopacki Rit]] while chasing the Czechoslovakian [[Pusher (boat)|towboat]] ''Šariš,'' suspected of smuggling weapons into Croatia. Both ships were severely damaged and stranded, and two Yugoslav servicemen were killed.
