On October 15, 2010, it was awarded over $25&nbsp;million from the [[National Science Foundation]] (NSF) to support research in [[nanotechnology]]. The organization within the University of Puerto Rico impacted is called Puerto Rico EPSCoR (Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research).
