Pratchett died at his home from complications of Alzheimer's disease on the morning of 12 March 2015. In 2023, several stories published in a regional newspaper in the 1970s and 1980s under the pen name Patrick Kearns were discovered to have been authored by Pratchett. They were published as ''[[A Stroke of the Pen: The Lost Stories]]'' in October 2023.<ref name="Shaffi2023" />
