These measures took effect on April 9, 2025. The following day after this announcement  at the opening bell, the [[Dow Jones Industrial Average|Dow]] lost over 1,344.50 points and was down 3.22% and the [[S&P 500]] lost 176.96 points and was down 3.15%.      

Shortly after the tariffs were announced, the US stock market lost more than $3 trillion.
