=== Coast ===
The national park meets the [[Irish Sea]] coast within [[Cardigan Bay]] between the Dovey estuary in the south and the {{lang|cy|Dwyryd|italic=no}} estuary. The larger part of that frontage is characterised by [[sand dune|dune systems]], the largest of which are {{lang|cy|[[Morfa Dyffryn]]|italic=no}} and {{lang|cy|[[Morfa Harlech]]|italic=no}}. These two locations have two of the largest [[spit (landform)|sand/shingle spits]] in Wales.<ref>{{cite book |last1=Goudie |first1=Andrew |title=The Landforms of England and wales |url=https://archive.org/details/landformsofengla0000goud |url-access=registration |date=1990 |publisher=Blackwell |location=Oxford |isbn=0631173064 |page=[https://archive.org/details/landformsofengla0000goud/page/262 262] |edition=1st}}</ref> The {{lang|cy|italic=no|Mawddach}} and {{lang|cy|italic=no|Dwyryd}} estuaries form the largest indentations, and have large expanses of [[intertidal zone|intertidal sands]] and [[salt marsh|coastal marsh]] which are especially important for wildlife: see [[#Natural history]]. The northern tip of the national park extends to the north coast of Wales at {{lang|cy|italic=no|Penmaen-bach}} Point, west of {{lang|cy|italic=no|Conwy}}, where precipitous cliffs have led to the road and railway [[A55 road#Penmaenbach and Pen-y-clip tunnels|tunnels]].
