===Public welfare=== In 1426, Sejong enacted a law that granted government [[nobi|serfs]] ({{Korean|hangul=๋ ธ๋น|hanja=ๅฅดๅฉข|rr=nobi|labels=no}}) women 100 days of [[parental leave|maternity leave]] after childbirth, which, in 1430, was lengthened by one month before childbirth. It is said that once, when the palace had a significant surplus of food, the king distributed it to poor peasants who needed it.
