*In 1990, the Kinks were the third British band (along with [[the Who]]) to be inducted into the [[Rock and Roll Hall of Fame]]. At the induction (performed by [[Pete Townshend]]), Davies was described as "almost indisputably rock's most literate, witty and insightful songwriter".
