==Government==
The city government includes a [[mayor]] and a [[city council]]. City planning is conducted by a five-member commission appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council. They serve for three year terms.<ref name="facts"/>

City services include, one [[fire station]] located within the city, provided with twenty-five volunteers and twelve Emergency Medical Technicians. The Polk County [[Sheriff]]'s [[Police Department|Department]] is also found in the city limits and includes seven sworn officers, four part-time officers and five support personnel.<ref name="facts"/>

The city of Osceola banned the ownership of certain [[domestic dog|dog]] breeds including [[Staffordshire bull terrier]]s, [[American Pit Bull Terriers]], [[American Staffordshire Terrier|American Staffordshire terrier]]s, [[Chow Chow|chow]]s, [[Doberman]]s, [[Rottweiler]]s, [[Bandog|American Bandog mastiff]]s and [[Neapolitan Mastiff]]s within city limits during the summer of 2008.
