Large quantities of Boreo-Atlantic armhook squid (''[[Gonatus fabricii]]'') were also discovered. Male specimens had a higher likelihood of showing two additional prey species within their stomach contents: polar cod (''[[Arctogadus glacialis]]'') and redfish (''[[Sebastes marinus]]''), both of which are found at depths of more than {{cvt|500|m}}. Narwhal diet varies between seasons. In winter, narwhals feed on [[Demersal fish|demersal]] prey, mostly [[flatfish]], under dense pack ice. During the summer, they eat mostly Arctic cod and Greenland halibut, with other fish such as polar cod making up the remainder of their diet.<ref name="Finley1982">{{Cite journal |last1=Finley |first1=K.
