===Sovereign immunity===
It has been held since 1918 that the federal Crown is immune from provincial law.<ref>{{Cite CanLII |litigants=Gauthier v The King |court=Supreme Court of Canada |num=85 |format=canlii |pinpoint=p 194 |parallelcite=[1918] 56 SCR 176 |date=5 March 1918 |courtname=auto}}</ref> Constitutional convention has also held that the Crown in right of each province is outside the jurisdiction of the courts in other provinces.
