== Geography ==
Lancaster is located in southern Dallas County and is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, the largest metropolitan area in Texas. Lancaster is situated within the [[Texas blackland prairies|Blackland Prairie]] region of Texas, which is characterized by level to gently rolling topography. [[Ten Mile Creek (Texas)|Ten Mile Creek]] and its tributaries are  major drainage features in and around the city. Because the area was used for farming and other agricultural businesses, much of the natural vegetation has been cleared.
