In January 1937, DiMaggio met actress [[Dorothy Arnold (actress)|Dorothy Arnold]] on the set of ''[[Manhattan Merry-Go-Round (film)|Manhattan Merry-Go-Round]]'', in which he had a minor role, and she was an extra.
