Sheriff Mike Sharp resigned in April 2018 amidst scandal. He was the subject of a lawsuit that alleged sexual misconduct, personal use of public funds and sexual harassment.<ref>{{cite news |title=Jackson Co. He had recently retired as the chief of the [[Kansas City Police Department]].
