==Education==
Hamlet operated its own school system until 1968, when it was absorbed by the Richmond County School System.<ref name= Ruffin/> The town is home to the Fairview Heights Elementary School, Monroe Avenue Elementary School, Hamlet Middle School, and Richmond County Ninth Grade Academy. High school students are served by the [[Richmond Senior High School]], located west of the city.
