Extrapolated into the past, this presents a [[Fine-tuning (physics)|fine-tuning]] problem because the contribution of curvature to the Universe must be exponentially small (sixteen orders of magnitude less than the density of radiation at [[Big Bang nucleosynthesis]], for example).
