==Death== [[File:Carl XIV John of Sweden dead 1844.jpg|thumb|Charles John on his deathbed]] [[File:Carl XIV John of Sweden grave 2013.jpg|thumb|Charles John's [[Porphyry (geology)|porphyry]] sarcophagus]] On 26 January 1844,{{sfnp|Bain|1911|p=932}} his 81st birthday, Charles John was found unconscious in his chambers having suffered a stroke.
