After the war, Wayne spent his time living a retired life between Pennsylvania and Georgia. President George Washington however called Wayne out of retirement in spring 1792 to command the newly formed [[Legion of the United States]] to secure the [[Northwest Territory]] for [[American pioneer|American settlers]].
