As part of the [https://akusociety.org/aku-clinical-trials/ DevelopAKUre] consortium, the AKU Society successfully proved the effectiveness of [[nitisinone]] to treat AKU, leading to the drug receiving approval from the [[European Medicines Agency]] in 2020.
